WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for certain ready-to-eat meals sold at Walmart and Trader Joe’s that may contain pasta contaminated with Listeria.
The FSIS announced this week that the alert applies to two products:
The meals were produced by FreshRealm at facilities in California and Indiana. The pasta used in the products tested positive for listeria during an ongoing investigation into a previous outbreak linked to chicken fettuccine alfredo meals .
FSIS said additional testing is underway to determine if the contamination is genetically related to the outbreak strain. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the products so far.
