PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon leaders are so far condemning President Donald Trump's decision to send troops into Portland in a rehash of deployments across U.S. cities.
Trump announced Saturday on social media that he will deploy "all necessary Troops" — not specifying whether they would be U.S. Army, National Guard, etc. — and is "authorizing Full Force, if necessary." He added that it was necessary to protect U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities, describing them as "under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists."
The White House has not elaborated on the announcement, including a timeline for said deployment.
