ST. CLAIR COUNTY — A motorist was killed early Saturday in a one-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 163 near Cemetery Road.

Just before 5 a.m., a Toyota left the roadway and hit a tree, killing the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, a release from the Illinois State Police said. The site is near Millstadt.

Highway 163 was shut down for more than three hours for the crash investigation Saturday morning, police said.

Officials did not release any information about the driver or the cause of the wreck.
