The TJ Maxx located on Newbury Street in Boston will be closing its doors in early 2026.

The parent company, TJX, which is based in Framingham, said the store is expected to close by Jan. 3, CBS News reported .

“We are always assessing and reviewing our real estate strategies and our decision to close this store reflects that thinking,” said a spokesperson for the company in a statement to CBS News. “We are grateful for the loyalty of our Newbury Street TJ Maxx customers and invite them to visit our nearby stores to continue to find great values”

In a notice filed with the state on Monday, the company said it would be laying off 117 workers, effective Jan. 5, 2026.
