GORHAM, N.H. —

The Mt. Washington Auto Road was briefly closed Saturday after a vehicle caught fire more than four miles up, first responders said.

Gorham Fire & EMS said around noon, they were dispatched to a vehicle fire on the auto road about 4.5 miles up the road.

Bystanders tried to put the fire out with extinguishers but were not successful. When firefighters got there, the car was fully involved, authorities said.

No one was hurt and the road was closed for a short time during the initial knockdown, firefighters said.
