KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No. 15 Tennessee football is set to take on Mississippi State for the Vols' first major road test of the season. Josh Heupel and company played the Bulldogs last season in Knoxville and won 33–14.

Before last season's victory, Tennessee hadn't played Mississippi State since 2019. Since the Vols' national championship season in 1998, the two teams have only met seven times, with the Vols winning six of those meetings.

All-time, Tennessee owns a 30–16–1 record and has played the Bulldogs 47 times since 1907.
