One of the biggest storylines from the 2025 Ryder Cup so far has been Rory McIlroy and his tense interactions with the patrons at Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York.

McIlroy and fellow Team Europe member Shane Lowry were seen allegedly flipping off someone in the gallery on Friday. It only escalated on Saturday as McIlroy was seen cursing at the crowd , refusing to putt until the crowd quieted down, screaming in jubilation after making a birdie putt and pointing to the scoreboard as Team Europe continued to pull away from Team USA. It got so bad that additional police officers and state troopers were added to the group's security detail.

Despite the hostile conditions, McIlroy and Lowry defeated Justin Thomas and Cameron Young to stretch Team Europe's lead to 10.
