Leeds County OPP say they've charged a man with attempted murder and 13 other counts after he allegedly tried to kill a child.

Officers launched an investigation into allegations of intimate partner violence and child abuse Friday morning, the police force said in a Saturday afternoon news release.

The 26-year-old man was later arrested in the Rideau Lakes, Ont., area, OPP said.

Sexual assault on a person under 16 causing bodily harm.

Two counts of forcible confinement.
