MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is taking responsibility for the release of a man who had been convicted of murder.

Anthony Green was released from jail after he made a $2,500 bond for a theft charge, despite being convicted of murder in an unrelated case.

A warrant for Green's arrest was issued on Thursday, charging him with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony.

According to records, Green has not been booked back into jail at this time.

The sheriff's office says Green's $500,000 bond for the murder charge was revoked, but that information was not "timely communicated."
