MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The family of a man slain in Whitehaven five years ago expressed shock after hearing that his killer was released on a clerical error just minutes after his murder conviction this week.

Now, Anthony Green is on the run.

Green was convicted on Thursday of first-degree murder in the 2020 death of Octavious Atkins. Nearly 40 minutes after the conviction, Green walked out of the courthouse at 201 Poplar in Downtown Memphis as a free man.

Green's attorney, Brandon Hall, told FOX13 that the release was due to a "clerical error."
