DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines Public Schools held a special session following the detainment of Superintendent of Dr. Ian Roberts by ICE forces on Friday.

The session was held at an administrative office, located at 2100 Fleur Drive, at 5 p.m. on Saturday. In the announcement DMPS said that Board Directors were meeting to "take action on the determination of the administrative leave status of Superintendent Dr. Ian Roberts."

During the meeting, the board voted 7-0 to put Dr. Roberts on paid administrative leave pending further information.

"While there is still much that we don't know, what we do know is that Dr. Roberts is currently unavailable to perform his duties as superintendent," board member Kimberly Martorano said.
