DUBLIN -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are elevating running back Trey Sermon from the practice squad to the active roster for the second straight week. Starter Jaylen Warren is banged up, and rookie Kaleb Johnson has been pulled off kick returns.

Sermon was Johnson’s replacement on kickoff returns last week.

Sermon stood out in the preseason, notching 50 yards on 10 rushes and a touchdown while adding eight receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Sermon was a former star running back at Oklahoma and Ohio State. When he came out during the 2021 NFL Draft, Sermon thought the Steelers would draft him, but that was before they landed Najee Harris in the first round.
