Yosemite, Yosemite Valley and Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra are under a weather alert for strong thunderstorms by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 4:10 p.m. The alert is in effect until 4:45 p.m.

The storms are predicted to bring pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).

“At 4:10 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm 8 miles southeast of Yosemite Valley, or 11 miles northeast of Yosemite South Entrance, moving southwest at 5 mph,” the NWS Hanford CA said. “Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.”

Locations impacted by the alert include Bridalveil Creek Campground, Wawona, Badger Pass Ranger Station, Wawona Campground, Ostrander Lake and Wawona Vistor Center.
