September 27, 1937 - More than 5,000 people gathered at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island for the dedication of the airport, then named Arrasmith Field after a local pilot and physician.
Schools and businesses were all closed to celebrate the airport.
Arrasmith Field would go on to be commandeered by the US Army during World War II and be known as the Grand Island Army Air Field.
