It took a little less than a half, but Tulane’s Green Wave finally overwhelmed Tulsa’s wave of momentum from beating Oklahoma State.

Tulane looked every bit the American Conference favorite, pulling away from the Hurricane 31-14 on a steamy Saturday afternoon at Chapman Stadium.

TU falls to 2-3 (0-2 in the American) and finishes its first-half schedule gauntlet at Memphis next Saturday.

Tulane’s defense managed six sacks, 12 tackles for loss and an interception, manhandling a TU offensive line that had outplayed Oklahoma State eight days ago.

The Hurricane tried various degrees of trickery in the first half — a reverse pass, a defensive lineman at running back and a surprise onside kick — to keep things close.
