Confusion grew two days after Ryan Walters announced he was taking a new job. Walters announced late Wednesday that he was stepping down as state superintendent and taking a job with The Teacher Freedom Alliance.

A day later, at the state board of education meeting, Walters made no mention of his resignation. As of Friday night, Walters had not submitted an official resignation letter.

A signed resignation letter is required to make Walters' resignation official. News 9 tried to contact Walter’s office numerous times, asking when he would send that letter. Neither Walters nor anyone from his staff was available to share his plans on Friday.
