ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) -- A man has died after a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer Saturday morning in Isle of Wight County.

The accident happened around 8:35 a.m. at the intersection of Benns Church Boulevard and South Church Street.

A preliminary investigation determined the driver of a 2022 Honda Pilot was traveling eastbound on Benns Church Boulevard when he made a left turn into the path of a 2024 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was traveling in the westbound lanes.

The driver of the Honda Pilot, identified as James Norman Porter III, was taken to Riverside Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries and eventually died. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

State police say neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors.
