CONCORD, NH. (WCAX) - We’re just days away from a potential government shutdown, unless Congress can agree on a short-term spending plan before October first.
The shutdown could mean mass layoffs for ten of thousands of government employees.
We asked Representative Maggie Goodlander her take:
“Local government, it’s trying to govern in the midst of an administration that is so utterly unpredictable. You heard the word arbitrary, you heard the word capricious. It is very hard to predict what is going to happen,” Rep. Maggie Goodlander, D-New Hampshire said.
The U.S. has experienced 14 shutdowns in the past, with the longest one going more than 34 days from December 2018 - to January 2019.
