BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Taking a walk, for a cure.
Saturday, people grabbed their sneakers and gathered at Oakledge Park for a Walk to Defeat ALS.
The group raised nearly 58 thousand dollars for the ALS Association.
The nonprofit focuses on care services for those with the disease, research for a cure and advocacy.
The event featured testimonies from those with the disease, and whose loved ones are diagnosed with it, about the importance of access to effective treatments, delaying harms of the disease and working towards a cure.
“It can be a very isolating disease, and this brings people together, and they can, they know what each other are going through, they understand, and it’s like, we call it our largest support group,” Mauret Brinser from the ALS Association said.
The money ra
