NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Merriweather Elementary bus driver was arrested after being pulled over on Interstate 20, according to officials.

The bus driver, Janice Waldorf, has been employed as a school bus driver with the school district since July 2023. She remains on administrative leave pending the completion of an investigation.

She’s charged with driving under the influence, less than 0.10%, first offense; and child endangerment, according to Aiken County jail records.

She’s being held in the jail with no bond set.

The insident happened as students were returning from a field trip. News 12 was told in an unconfirmed report that the kids had gone to Eudora Farms wildlife park.

The bus was apparently in a group of other buses when authorities were contacted around 2 p.m.
