DODGEVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - A Dodgeville High School senior is balancing his final year of classes with serving as a volunteer firefighter — continuing a tradition that has run in his family for four generations.

Brady Godfrey, 18, has already been excused from class to help fight fires as part of the Dodgeville Fire Department.

“Sometimes I went to the fire station while there and I went to meetings and drills with him, my dad, watching them, listening to them and what their stories was. And I had fun times learning,” Godfrey said.

Godfrey, now in uniform himself, said the experience is different than most of his peers.

“Most of them have jobs, but most of them don’t have like law enforcement jobs. They all are at like Walmart or like this, but I really like my job. It’s pretty cool,” h
