President Trump was elected president promising to bring retribution to Washington. The presidentially prodded indictment of former FBI Director James Comey makes good on that campaign pledge — with potentially seismic consequences to Washington and to the country.

Mr. Comey is accused of committing perjury in his testimony to a congressional committee. He denied that he authorized the leaks to the Washington media that made the public aware of the “Russiagate” investigation into the 2016 Trump presidential campaign. The U.S. Attorney’s Office presumably has evidence that Mr. Comey did authorize that leak.

With the statute of limitations fast approaching, President Trump used his social media account to blast Attorney General Pam Bondi for inaction on the case and to prod her to get Mr.
