My 81-year-old dad wants to age in place, but it is unaffordable to do so in America today. It doesn’t have to be this way.
America is aging, with the percentage of people 65 and older projected to more than double by 2050.
A significant percentage of our seniors cannot afford the assistance they need to age in place. I see this firsthand with my dad. Meanwhile, there is an affordable housing crisis and loneliness epidemic. Might there be a solution that addresses all of these complex problems?
My Midtown Tulsa-based dad, like 88% of Americans 65 and older, lives alone, and like 87% of adults 65 and older, he wishes to stay in his home as he ages. And like more than half of older adults, he struggles with activities such as cooking dinner, making doctors appointments and moving around.
