Authorities have identified the suspected driver in a hit and run incident earlier this week that put a man known for carrying a cross along the roadside in the hospital.
On Sept. 21, Mike Keenan was walking along 6400 Road south of Fruit Park, when he was struck by a vehicle. Keenan, 68, was transported to Montrose Regional Health with serious injuries and has since been released.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Keenan left the scene. The Colorado State Patrol on Thursday identified 21-year-old Johan Duarte Javalera of Montrose as the suspected driver.
Sgt. Jeremy Tice said that Javalera was identified using digital data, including traffic cameras.
