Serious fears are held for the crew of a catamaran that has gone missing after failing to reach its destination.

The vessel, named Ange, departed from Yamba on the NSW far north coast and was expected to arrive on the Gold Coast late on Saturday night. When it failed to show up, emergency teams immediately launched a search operation.

The search resumed on Sunday morning with Marine Rescue units from Point Danger, Brunswick and Ballina all deployed on the water.

Despite extensive efforts by the rescue teams, no trace of the missing catamaran has been found so far.

The search operation continues as authorities work to locate the vessel and determine the fate of those on board.
