Sandra Riley was a teacher for over 35 years in Easton, aiming to inspire her students year after year.

Though she is retired now, her continued passion for teaching fueled a new endeavor. She’ll take on this endeavor in a former bank.

Riley is seeking to open a nonprofit community library in Easton’s South Side neighborhood. The building, which sits at 394 W. Berwick St ., previously housed a Wells Fargo Bank .

Both the city’s Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board voted earlier this month to recommend approval of Riley’s application, allowing an education use on the site.

At the Easton Planning Commission’s meeting, Riley described the project as the culmination of a lifelong passion for improving literacy and her dedication to the community.
