PAGELAND, S.C. — Eleven people, including seven juveniles, were taken into custody in relation to the fatal shooting of a 9-year-old in Pageland, the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies responded to a shooting at a convenience store parking lot along Highway 9 on Sunday morning.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family affected by this heartbreaking tragedy," Sheriff Cambo Streater said. “This case has deeply impacted our community. Our investigators have worked tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. We remain committed to ensuring that every individual connected to this senseless act is held accountable.”

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division's Crime Scene Unit and Child Fatality Unit are assisting with the investigation, along with the Pageland
