SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire at a hotel on the 100 block of E. Constance Road Sunday morning.
Crews responded to the fire shortly after 6 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the back of the hotel and a fire on a porch area just off the lobby on the first floor.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and crews searched the floors above to ensure it had not spread. Ventilation was performed to remove the smoke that went into the building. The fire was placed under control at 6:27 a.m.
The hotel’s fire alarm alerted occupants, and they were evacuating when firefighters arrived.
No one was injured, and hotel guests were allowed to return after air-quality checks.
