Trail of Terror kicked off in Wallingford Saturday night, bringing in hundreds of people for its opening night.

Michael Thorp, a crew member with Trail of Terror, said planning and building this year's trail began months ago.

“We change up at least 70% of it from year to year and we since we're all outdoors, we have to start that as soon as snow stops," he said. "It's a rush towards every year, but we get it done, and we're excited to show the public.”

The trail doesn't just scare people. It’s raised over $2.5 million for local organizations since the trail began in 1995. All of the scare actors are volunteers so most of the proceeds are donated.
