LENAWEE COUNTY, MI – An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle, police said.

The deceased was identified as a 48-year-old Adrian resident, according to the Adrian Police Department .

Officers responded around 9:46 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, to a report of a crash. Police said a 45-year-old was driving northbound on North Main Street when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who had stumbled into the roadway.

The driver remained on scene until law enforcement arrived. The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, where they were later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
