The Sept. 21 editorial “ Pull it together, Portland’s City Council " is spot on with one major omission. Councilors should pass a policy mandating all city workers return to office a minimum of three days a week. Remote work made sense during the pandemic, but it makes no sense five years later at a time where efficient teamwork is necessary and when the city should be doing everything it can to revitalize downtown. Bringing workers back to the office on a hybrid model can accomplish both goals. Anything less from the council is a betrayal to the taxpayers and a roadblock to a successful recovery of our city.
