Agartala, 28 th September 2025: Tripura has witnessed a tourism boom over the past two years, with both domestic and foreign tourist numbers surging, as per the India Tourism Data Compendium 2025 released by the Ministry of Tourism.

The state welcomed 6.01 lakh domestic tourists in 2024, a 64% jump from 3.66 lakh in 2023. Foreign arrivals also climbed sharply by 36%, reaching 91,000 in 2024 compared to 67,000 the previous year. With these figures, Tripura now stands as the second-most visited northeastern state by foreign tourists, behind only Sikkim.Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury credited the impressive growth to the state government’s sustained efforts in developing tourism infrastructure.
