ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — One woman was taken to the hospital early Sunday morning after an assault that left her with an injury to the hand, according to a release from the Elmira Police Department (EPD).

Around 1:39 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, EPD officers were called to the area of Lormore Street near Maple Ave for the report of a large disturbance, with around 20 people involved, the release stated.

When the officers got to the scene they found a woman with a nonlife-threatening cut on her hand, the release explained. Medical treatment was then given to the woman on scene by EPD officers, members from the Elmira Fire Department and Erway Ambulance before she was taken to Robert Packer Hospital for further treatment.
