Strict income caps for some Aspen-Pitkin County Housing Authority units are making those units hard to fill and also straining financial resources on certain housing funds.

APCHA is struggling to fill Low Income Housing Tax Credit units at Aspen Country Inn, Executive Director Matthew Gillen and Interim Finance Director Tyler Sexton told Aspen City Council in an information-only memo earlier this month. It caused a $7,182 loss in income in August.

“The loss of rental income from vacant units has created significant strain on the Aspen Country Inn Affordable Housing Fund,”
