The Danville Adult Detention Center honored three graduates on Friday who received their GED diplomas.

A GED — General Educational Development — test is the equivalent of a high school diploma. It consists of five exams put together by the American Council on Education.

On Friday, William Loomis and Isaiah Scearce attended the intimate ceremony at the facility. Another student, Zacarius Menefee, also received his GED certification, but wasn’t able to be at the Friday gathering.

The trio spent several weeks in the program to receive their diplomas.

During the ceremony, instructor Donald Pippin held up a small sign to drive home a point.
