CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Chesapeake officials say a water pressure issue affecting the Western Branch area Sunday morning was likely caused by a communications problem between systems.

The city began receiving reports of lower-than-normal water pressure around 11:50 a.m. Crews responded to the area to determine the cause and make repairs.

Officials said crews are performing a series of checks, and water pressure should be returning to normal within the hour, if not already restored.

Residents may notice discoloration when pressure returns; running the water for a few moments will clear it, and officials said it poses no health hazard.

Residents who experience a continued drop in pressure after 2 p.m. are asked to call 757-382-6161 to report the issue.
