HOUSTON (KIAH) — An airplane crash at Hooks Airport in north Houston has left two people dead, Harris County authorities said.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon on the far south part of the runway of the airport, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
The airplane was engulfed in flames when EMS officers arrived, Gonzalez said. Two people in the aircraft were confirmed dead at the scene.
The flames have caused some small brushfires in the area and fire officials are working to put out those fires.
The scene remains active and the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating.
