CLEVELAND — The Guardians know they'll be in the postseason , but the division — and homefield advantage in the Wild Card Series — is still up for grabs.
The Guardians punched their ticket to the playoffs with a walk-off win Sept. 27, which secured at least a wild card seed . That left them with three possibilities: finishing as the No. 3 seed and playing the Tigers or the Red Sox in Cleveland, or going to Detroit as the sixth seed.
A Guardians win or a Tigers loss in Boston would give Cleveland the division title and officially clinch a 15.5-game comeback over Detroit. The Tigers also clinched their spot in the playoffs, with only seeding to be determined.
