More than 80 Oklahoma Republican lawmakers traveled to Washington this week for what was called a White House state leadership conference, meeting with cabinet officials and discussing both state and federal issues.

House Speaker Kyle Hilbert said the trip grew out of a smaller visit he made last year. Working with U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin, Hilbert said the idea expanded into a larger event after conversations with President Donald Trump, who approved hosting Oklahoma lawmakers at the White House.
