Police have launched an investigation after a baby died after suddenly falling ill.

Officers were called to the Rose Hill area of Oxford on Saturday morning. The infant was then rushed to hospital but died a few hours later. The force have announced the tragic death is currently being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.

Police later visited the baby's home, which is a regular procedure in cases of sudden or unexplained deaths. Witnesses saw officers, paramedics and critical care cars rush to the property, Oxford Mail reports.

A police spokesman saud: " Thames Valley Police were called to an address in the Rose Hill area at just before 9am on Saturday to reports that a baby was unwell.
