A police officer in Florence is on leave from his job after being arrested Saturday.
Evan Thornton was arrested for domestic violence third degree and booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center, according to the Florence Police Department Facebook page.
“Mr. Thornton is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He has been placed on administrative leave,” the department said.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office got a 911 call Saturday about Thornton and another person. They investigated and spoke with several witnesses at the scene, the department said.
Thornton is being held with a $5,000 bond.
