Dear Johnnie: Many nights, while driving east (within Longmont city limits), my wife and I have seen lights in the sky over the eastern horizon. Some nights we see as many as four. More often it’s two or three. They look to us to be far away. We’ve typically seen them between 8 p.m. and midnight.
My wife suggested they might be warning lights on top of tall antennas. But I’ve never seen antennas out there during the day. Plus the lights are white (not red). Moreover they move slowly and they gradually fade and get brighter before eventually disappearing completely — same effect you’d expect from airplane lights (except the lights don’t flash like wing lights do).
