PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- For patients at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania , this helpful hound is sure to brighten their days.

His name is Dave, and he's part of his owner's mission to remember a beloved friend.

"We get to spend time with patients and with staff and just generally give them a break from hospital life, even if it's for 5 minutes and we can help them feel better mentally and emotionally," said Alicia Harantschuk.

"It makes a difference in our lives and also our patients' lives because seeing dogs like Dave go into their rooms...they just light up," said Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania registered nurse, Megan Mackiewicz.
