BOSTON -- The Red Sox showed up for their final day of the regular season still unclear of their next opponent, but enthused about being back in the postseason for the first time since 2021 and primed about being able to open the festivities with a bona fide ace in Garrett Crochet.

“We got a chance,” said Red Sox manager Alex Cora. “I think offensively, we're doing a lot of good things. The bullpen is a lot better than the last few years. I think having that number one helps, right? We know we’re going on the road, we know it’s Garrett on Tuesday, so we have a pretty good chance.”

By the time they walked off the field with a 4-3 victory over the Tigers, the chances looked more than good that Boston’s latest postseason run will start at Yankee Stadium for a best-of-three Wild Card Serie
