WATERBURY, Conn. — The city of Waterbury said Monday night that water service was restored citywide after the installation of new valves during a repair of a water main break from last Tuesday .
The water supply was temporarily shut off in the late afternoon, after peak demand, to reduce pressure on the pipe while the repair was made, said Jennifer Rose, press secretary for the office of Mayor Paul Pernerewski, Jr.
Water may take a few hours to be fully restored for residents living in higher elevations on the east side of the city.
Rose noted that crews will continue their work on the repairs through Monday night with no further service interruptions expected. They are still working on finding a more permanent solution since the fix is only temporary.
