Boston – The Tigers were assembling back into the clubhouse Saturday night, corked bottles of champagne in their hands ready to be shaken and sprayed, waiting for manager AJ Hinch to deliver his celebratory address after clinching a playoff spot.

Tarik Skubal, as he does, reminded Hinch that this better be good. After all, the Tigers’ September swoon gave him a few extra weeks to prepare for it.
