Neighbors said the house fire in Lebanon that killed four people on Sunday sprang up rapidly and was intense.
“It was an inferno,” the man who lives next door said.
The house fire killed four people — ages 73, 17, 4, and 1 — in the 800 block of Church Street.
The man said he heard people screaming outside that the house was on fire, and when he left his home, he heard yelling that a baby was inside.
“I tried to help them, I wanted to get inside the building, but the flames were just too intense,” he said.
The building is a rental property. The landlord’s mother, who was at the scene Sunday evening, said a grandmother in the home had been living there several years, but she wasn’t sure when others moved in.
