A man has been charged with the alleged “brutal” murder of another man near a strip of shops in Brisbane’s west.
The victim, 44, was found critically injured between two garbage bins behind Manly Heights Shopping Village in Manly West around 1am on Sunday.
He had been stabbed a number of times in the chest and stomach and was declared dead at the scene.
A 45-year-old man was arrested nearby the shopping centre and questioned by police.
The Wynnum resident has now been charged with murder.
After the stabbing police say he allegedly ran from the scene and is accused of grabbing an 18-year-old woman, allegedly attempting to sexually assault her on Miles Cres about 2am.
A member of the public stepped in and called police who arrested the man at the scene.
