LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Two men were arrested for stealing copper wire from the interstate on Saturday, according to Louisville Metro Police.
In a Facebook post, LMPD stated officers responded to a call of a copper wire theft in progress near Interstate 65 and Interstate 265 on Saturday, Sept. 27.
At the scene, the officers established a perimeter and conducted a sweep of the area. Two men were found while actively stripping and burning infrastructure wire to hide its identity.
The suspects, 43-year-old Daniel Bentley and 54-year-old Robert Kelly, were both arrested and are being charged with criminal mischief and trespass of a key infrastructure. Additionally, Kelly is also being charged with possession of methamphetamines.
