LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Two more arrests have been made as Louisville Metro Police continue to crack down on copper wire thefts.

Robert Kelly, 54, and Daniel Bentley, 43, were taken into custody on Saturday after they received a report of an active theft on infrastructural copper wire near I-64 and I-265.

Police set up a perimeter and searched the area, locating two men in the process of stripping and burning the copper wire. In a post, LMPD said the men were burning the wire “in an attempt to obscure its identity."

Kelly and Bentley were arrested and, during the investigation, admitted that they had taken the wire near the guard rail, intending to sell the scraps.
